Each subject area at Aarhus University has its own local students’ council, which works to ensure the students’ rights and to shape the development and study environment at the individual studies.

The local students’ council deal, for example, with curricula, examination forms and academic events. At the same time, the subject councils also function as a background group for the students who sit on the study boards at their department, and the academic councils in the main areas. Depending on how many students they have to represent, each local students’ council has also been assigned mandates in the Joint Council.
